Can Portland Do Wrong?

NO IT CANNOT.

Not only is Portland in a gorgeous state (....Oregon.), not only is it one of the most environmentally conscious cities in the country, not only is it home to a bunch of artsy fartsy people, not only ALL OF THAT...

...they have this too:

Their first annual Tweed Ride. Where they get on classy bikes, wearing classy old-timey outfits, and then they ride around. C'MON. Why aren't we Californians doing fun, kooky things like this? Ok, strike that, I'm sure there are lots of kooky goings-on in California, but I'm not cool enough to know about them. At any rate, I seem to be hoping a little bit more than usual that I get into the two Oregon schools I applied to. Just read this description from Jonathan Maus: "We gathered under the neo-classical arches and on the cobblestones of Ankeny Plaza — a location that fit well with the pipes, vests, flasks, hunting caps, knickers, and jackets. Besides all the fantastic tweed and finery, the ride was also a chance to show old antique bikes." I'm practically drooling. The man used the word 'knickers' for god sakes!

And, oh god. After the Tweed Ride they all got together to watch Les Triplettes de Belleville and have a fashion show.

This is all so hopelessy vintage hipster I can't contain myself.
